| The
Case Is Made Convincingly If You Look At The Facts
(The Reality Of The Case For Military Action Against Saddam Hussein, Not
The
People Of Iraq)
-Frank

We are hearing a
lot of rumblings from the "wish I lived in the 60's"
anti-war protest groups these days about their wavering if not non-existent
support for the president and his commitment to remove Saddam Hussein
from
power in Iraq. We are seeing the likes of Susan Sarandon and Ed Asner,
liberals in the extreme sense of the word, jump on a misguided bandwagon
navigated by manipulators of the facts that disregards the truth and
vilifies an administration that hasn't forgotten the atrocities this Iraqi
tyrant has perpetrated upon his own people, the people of his region and
the
world community as a whole.
There are many reasons
why the case for regime change has been made and many
reasons why the American people are not being afforded the truth or the
facts of the matter on demand.
The media is playing
a huge part in disregarding the evidence that has
already been submitted on the reasons that Hussein has to go as the leader
of Iraq including the genocide that he committed directly after Desert
Storm, which resulted the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Kurds, an
almost Stalinesque number (Stalin was his hero by the way) and effectively
established the no-fly zones in place today.
The fact that Iraqi
forces shoot at coalition planes on a daily basis is not
only a reason to have this self-imposed leader removed but also quite
frankly an act of war. If any other country fired a single shot at an
American military plane it would be an international incident that the
congress and the American people would be up in arms about and talk of
war
would be justified in even the most liberal of circles.
There are intelligent
sources that validate the need for regime change in
Iraqi that cannot be compromised and that are still operating. To shed
light
on who those people are and how they are acquiring and passing on the
intelligence information is to compromise not only our intelligence source
but to effectively put those who have been helping us in grave danger.
To
prove that there is a grave danger one simply has to look at Hussein's
statement that any Iraqi scientist that cooperates with the UN weapons
inspectors would be subject to execution.
The UN inspectors
have found vehicles for the distribution of weapons of
mass destruction. It matters not that the Iraqi's say they were from a
"long
time ago" and that "they were over-looked" when they were
compiling and
submitting the all-important weapons manifest. The fact is they were not
to
have them in the first place, period. Further, I find it incredibly hard
to
believe that missiles specially made for the delivery of chemical and
biological weapons; the most advanced, coveted and lethal weapons in their
arsenal would be forgotten about. Would the US actually have a memory
problem about some of our nuclear weapons? Would the Israelis have a slip
of
memory about where their patriot missile batteries were located? The "I
forgot" excuse about the discovery of these missiles is more than
unacceptable it rings pathetic.
Hussein's continual
manipulation of the current UN Security Council
resolution exhibits his intension to embrace the status quo established
prior to Operation Desert Storm and his choice to defy the world community
on his quest to rule the Middle East. He and his regime are not adhering
to
the guidelines and agreements that were put into place at the end of the
Gulf War and they are not cooperating and being pro-active in the adherence
to the newly adopted UN Security Council resolution. This is not an opinion
either; this is straight from the mouth of the Chief Weapons Inspector,
Hans
Blix.
Now, with all of
these facts in place and dozens more, which can be
substantiated, one has to ask why there is such a vocal outpouring of
sympathy for this mass-murderers well being. The answer is fairly clear
on
many fronts but the two that dominate the arena of popular thought and
reason are these:
1) The situation
is being politicized by the party that isn't in power and,
2) the predominant members of the modern day anti-war movement are wannabe
throw-backs to the 1960's and actual throw-backs to the 1960's that are
waxing nostalgic both of whom have not bothered to examine all of the
aspects of the situation at hand.
Those who would politicize
a matter so serious (Daschle, Feinstein, Pelosi
and McAuliffe included), especially a matter that hangs innocent lives
in
the balance, are power-hungry narcissists who will do anything to quench
their thirst for and addiction to power. Some of them even are using this
situation to further their own agendas both politically and monetarily.
One
needs only to look at which activists and which politicians have relations
who are doing business in the tormented regions to see how they are
manipulating the circumstances to their advantage by obstructing the
application of justice the Iraqi people so desperately need. While the
predominant members of the modern day anti-war movement are made up of
the
under-informed, those who refuse to embrace the total reality of the
situation at hand and the Hollywood set whose ratings and popularity have
plummeted and who are reaching out for the "cause de jour" in
a vein attempt
to scratch their way back into the spotlight. Regardless of which group
is
speaking both are more inclined to be anti-Bush rather than anti-war and
both are doing a tremendous disservice to the country and a deadly
disservice to the oppressed citizens of Iraq. They do this with the silent
approval of a tolerant mainstream media who keeps their fingers on the
ratings pulse every step of the way.
The case has been
made without the president having to say a word if one
would only stand up and look reality straight in the eyes but then the
vocal
minority and the manipulators would never look reality in the eyes because
then they would see exactly how ugly they really are and we all know that
you can't tell a liberal that they are ugly; that would be name calling
and
that isn't fair!
