The Iraq War marked the beginning of the end of network news coverage.
Viewers saw the juxtaposition of the embedded correspondents reporting
the war as it was actually unfolding and the jaundiced, biased, negative
coverage of these same events in the network newsrooms. While U.S. and
British troops advanced without serious opposition and with a minimum
of casualties, the media worried loudly about disaster scenarios that
never came to pass. The Turks weren’t letting our troops through.
There would be no two front war! Our supply lines were over-extended!
Guerrilla attacks would leave our troops without food or ammo! Saddam
would blow up the oil wells and trigger an eco-disaster from which it
would take decades to recover! We were being sucked into house-by-house,
street-by-street fighting in the capital! We didn’t have enough
troops! And, when the war was won, the networks and the newspapers fixated
on the priceless artifacts that had been looted from the Baghdad Museum!"

The Houston Chronicle is reporting of a little incident involving Tom

"The media elites covering national politics would be indistinguishable
from the Democratic Party except the Democratic Party isn't liberal enough.
A higher percentage of the Washington press corps voted for Clinton in
1992 than did this demographic category: 'Registered Democrats.'"

Bill Clinton, May 28, 1993 Philadelphia, PA
"I'm tired of being labeled anti-American because I ask questions,"
says anti-American actress Susan Sarandon. Uh, Sue, don't a lot of people
ask questions without being labeled anti-American? Could it be that the
reason you're labeled anti-American is that you're, uh, anti-American?
Sarandon also says of Britain's prime minister: "What's happened
to Blair? I don't understand his reasoning or his logic. I don't understand
his evolution. I can see him being seduced by Clinton but don't understand
what him and Bush speak about." Her just don't understand.

Veteran White House correspondent Helen Thomas at the Society of Professional

"You think prisoners should have privileges? Ok, but let's compromise.
They want cable television? Fine - give them a 24-hour feed of the security
camera at the convenience store they knocked up. Conjugal visits? Yeah,
why not... doesn't Leona Helmsley have some community service to work
out? Movies? ...we got you the director's cut of Nell. And you want a
weight room? You GOT a weight room: it's spelled W-A-I-T ... it's your
cell [expletive] - so get in it and wait."

Dennis Miller on prison conditions
"You know the problem with the liberal prison-reform advocates? They
confuse 'tough' with 'inhumane'. Denying inmates privileges like cable
TV and Penthouse magazines and feeding them crappy food isn't inhumane.
For God's sake, those are the kind of conditions I faced every week when
I was a comic on the road."

"...consider
the psychosis revealed in the concept of "paying for" tax cuts.
Tax cuts aren't something you pay for. It's less money for the government
to spend. Hearing politicians tell us "we" can't "afford"
a tax cut is like listening to a glutton tell you he can't "afford"
a diet. In no other context do people talk about "paying for"
money they don't have. I can't pay for your refusal to give me money because
I need a yacht."

interesting that the Muslims' denial of Stone's account was instantly
