Audrey Grieme, 21, a pretty, dark-haired aspiring opera singer, mourned at her family's posh home in Thomasville, Ga. She was still trying to unravel why Andrew Veal, 25, the gregarious University of Georgia researcher and part-time chef, would kill himself.

The mystery to his suicide may be contained in a bizarre three-page handwritten farewell letter left behind by Veal in his Honda parked by Ground Zero.
