A comprehensive investigation into Halliburton's multibillion-dollar contract to restore Iraq's oil infrastructure shows "no evidence of profiteering" by the Houston-based oil services company.

That's the verdict by the New York Times, which assigned its Whitewater sleuth Jeff Gerth and investigative ace Don Van Atta to lay bare all the tawdry details of how Vice President Dick Cheney's former company was reaping big-bucks profits from sweetheart deals imagined by Democrats.

The Capture of Saddam Hussein Was Staged
by Frank Salvato

"I've been surprised [Bush] waited, but then I thought, well, politically, it probably doesn't make much sense to find [Saddam Hussein] just yet." Those were the words of Washington State Congressman Jim McDermott during a recent interview with KIRO radio in Seattle. He implied President Bush would have preferred to have waited until closer to the election to capture Saddam Hussein in an effort to “score more political points with voters.” He continued by saying, "There's too much by happenstance for it to be just a coincidental thing." Thus is the mentality of the liberal left in the United States of America. (more)

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright insisted Wednesday that she was just kidding when she wondered aloud whether the Bush administration is holding Usama bin Laden captive, waiting to break him out at the best political moment.

It was a "tongue-in-cheek comment and was not intended in any other way," Albright told Fox News.

But witnesses to Albright's comment said the ambassador did not appear to be joking Tuesday when she suggested President Bush may reveal bin Laden's capture as an "October surprise" before next November's presidential election.

Saddam Hussein's Justice Needs To Come From All
by Frank Salvato
With the capture of Saddam Hussein comes the question of how to best impose justice on him for the actions of his life. Without a doubt he will have to face his accusers, those who have suffered at his hand or had loved ones raped, tortured and murdered. But as Saddam Hussein moves closer to receiving the justice he so richly deserves questions are raised about how best to impose it. Who should be the authority that in the end brings him to justice? If the authority should be a compilation of entities which entity should have priority? Should the death penalty be an option? How should he be charged? To be sure, the justice that Saddam Hussein receives will be far more fair-minded than the justice with which he reigned while over-lording the people of Iraq. (more)

BAGHDAD JIM'S AT IT AGAIN
WASHINGTON -- Rep. Jim McDermott, D-Wash., who earned headlines across the globe last year for criticizing President Bush while in Baghdad, is enmeshed in a new controversy over remarks he made about the capture of Saddam Hussein.

In an interview Monday with a Seattle radio station, McDermott said the U.S. military could have found the former Iraqi dictator "a long time ago if they wanted."

Asked if he thought the weekend capture was timed to help Bush, McDermott chuckled and said, "Yeah. Oh, yeah."

McDermott went on to say, "There's too much by happenstance for it to be just a coincidental thing."

When interviewer Dave Ross asked again if he meant to imply the Bush administration timed the capture for political reasons, McDermott said: "I don't know that it was definitely planned on this weekend, but I know they've been in contact with people all along who knew basically where he was. It was just a matter of time till they'd find him.

"It's funny," McDermott added, "when they're having all this trouble, suddenly they have to roll out something."

We've Got Your Saddam Hussein Right Here!

Ding-dong the witch is dead…well, not dead but he was captured by the 4th Infantry Division and is now in US and Coalition custody. Saddam Hussein was pulled, ragged, tattered, defeated and demoralized from a spider-hole on a small farm just outside of Tikrit…alive! Reports from allover Iraq, including a report from our own Rob Douglas who is stationed in Mosul, have all Iraqi’s celebrating in the streets the fact that the days of Saddam Hussein’s brutality are truly over. This is a credit to President Bush as well as the other world leaders who had the courage to do what was right. This is also a rebuke to those who waxed skeptical and opposed the military efforts to bring freedom to the Iraqi people; their weakness has been exposed. (more)

Former Vice President and first runner up in the 2000 Presidential Election Al Gore has come out of ‘seclusion’ and placed his support squarely behind the Hate-Bush candidate, Howard Dean. Al Gore raises his flag of ultra-liberalism today and confirms what everyone who voted for George W. Bush was saying in 2000: Al Gore was and is an ultra-liberal trying to sell himself as a centrist. FROM BOORTZ.COM

The New York Post tells us about a Dean event in New York ... a fundraiser. The attraction for this particular fundraiser, other than Howard Dean himself, were comedians Judy Gold and Janeane Garofalo, the lady who fancies herself as a potential liberal talk radio host.

The lovely Judy Gold cited the reason she is supporting Howard Dean: "We have to get this piece of living, breathing sh_ _ out of the office." Isn't that just unbelievable? This actually makes you want to listen to the Ditzy Twits again. At least Natalie didn't call the president a "living, breathing sh _ _." Just imagine the smiles on the faces of those who hate America, those who would like to kill as many Americans as possible. How could the enemies of America not take comfort in an award-winning entertainer referring to the president in that manner.

Janeane Garofalo was mild by comparison. She merely chimed in with her own title for the prescription drub benefit Bush signed this week, calling it the "you can go fu _ k yourself Grandma bill". Nice talk, Janeane ... do you kiss your mother with that mouth?

James Taranto has the perfect name for these Dean supporters ... one I fully intend to utilize. "Deanie babies." You couldn't describe them better. No Democrat, by the way, would ever refer to those expressions as "hate speech." Only Republicans can engage in hate speech. It's a law.

What Does Dean Have To Hide?

It can’t be a matter of national security. It can’t be something that would be sensitive regarding the Pentagon, the CIA, NSA or the FBI. But Howard Dean, presidential candidate who harps about the “secrecy” cloaking the Bush Administration, did something that he contends is routinely done when one reaches the level of state governor, he sealed nearly half of his official papers. This means that the public will not be able to know what they contain for at least a decade. The question here has to be, what could be so sensitive that Dean would feel he would have needed to seal them in the first place? (more)
